Production Notes

Petit Verdot is one of the six red grape varietals that are grown in Bordeaux, France. Its name loosely translates to “little green one,” a reference to its late ripening behavior. Petit Verdot thrives in warm climates. Although it is traditionally used in small amounts for blending, we have had an exceptional vineyard block of Petit Verdot that has produced a limited quantity of wine worthy of being bottled on its own. Petit Verdot is known for its color, structure, and tannins, and this wine lives up to these attributes. The 2019 Petit Verdot features aromas of black cherry and plum combined with hints of wet slate and tobacco. The palate is rich upon entry, with flavors of blueberry, currants, and baking spices. The powerful mid-palate segues into a velvety finish balanced in tannins complimented by a touch of caramel from the new French oak.

Pair with high-protein meats, reduction sauces, and flavorful BBQ.
